Dec. 1: World AIDS Day 2016
World AIDS Day was celebrated yesterday. The special day has been commemorated annually since the inception of it in 1988. The purpose for the special day is to raise awareness of the AIDS crisis, which still impacts so many people around the world.
Though there have been small victories along the way, AIDS remains a serious public health risk. As of 2013, AIDS has killed more than 36 million people around the globe, since 1981 when it was first observed by medical authorities.
