Sir Isaac Newton
Sir Isaac Newton (Dec. 25, 1642-March 20, 1727) was an English physicist and mathematician whose work represented a landmark in the sciences worldwide in history.

His iconic book Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica was first published in 1687. In it, he laid the basics down of classical mechanics. In addition, he assisted in the development of calculus. Perhaps Newton's most well-known of discoveries was that of his Laws of Motion and Universal Gravitation.

Professionally, Newton was a fellow of Trinity College and the second Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge.
