Agamemnon: Dream Theater's Award-Winning Production

Taking a new look at an old standard, in 2010, the Dream Theater took a new look at the Greek story "Agamemnon." The story comes to us originally from the writer Aeschylus and tells the story of Agamemnon, a might king of Argos, who was the chief protagonist against the King of Troy, Priam, in Homer's epic story.

"Agamemnon" is the story of this mighty king's return and his eventual murder at the hands of his wife's lover.

I have to admit that, being a lover of theater and the theater arts, I do like it when an ages-old story like this is updated in language that makes it more accessible by contemporary audiences.

I have seen many stage incarnations of "Agamemnon" myself. And, I have never seen this story put on badly, regardless of the theater company or the specific script they were using.

However, Dream Theater deserves a tip of the hat for what they have done in their rendition of this immortal work.
